Item details
In a Bavarian monastery during the closing years of the fifteenth century, with early rumblings of protest and reformation threatening the Catholic church in Europe, an Abbot is visited by the celebrated artist Albrecht D?rer to discuss a possible commission. D?rer is minded to refuse the job until he is recognised by one of the Abbot's servants ? a man who played a key role in the artist's past, and intends to exert an even greater influence on his future. This play is written entirely in blank verse and is based on an intriguing story which, although probably apocryphal, has long been told about Albrecht D?rer and one of the most famous works, ? The Praying Hands''.
