Item details

There have been MacRuries in the small Hebridean island of Kersivay for centuries. Amy MacRurie still lives there, but circumstances have compelled her to turn the Big House into an hotel. On a dark and foggy Christmas Eve the Stranger's Place has been set. Five guests assemble in the lounge - Professor Murchison and his wife, Elizabeth Barton, a temperamental fashion model, and little Joey Jacob, who sells everything from "a carpet tack to a record player''. They are about to drink a Christmas toast to love and friendship when a Russian fugitive makes a dramatic appearance. With its carefully drawn and widely contrasting characters, with a comedy situation building up to a thrilling climax, this play presents actors, producers and stage managers with tremendous opportunities.
