This play is set in a crofting township in the Highlands. Television reception has just become possible and unknown to her husband, Fiona Maclean has bought a new set. Calum is furious. His worst fears are confirmed, the whole household routine is disorganised, and one day when his wife and daughter Thomasina are in Inverness all the neighbours -- including the waspish Mairi Ross -- descend on him with requests for their favourite programmes. In a fit of rage he smashes the set -- but an unexpected visit from the minister changes his ideas. Even then Mairi Ross's plans would appear to irritate him even further, but it may be a blessing in disguise. Set in the early 1960s.
