In this Scottish comedy, Wullie, henpecked beyond endurance, sells his soul to a persuasive Devil in exchange for ten years' peace from his wife's nagging tongue. The Devil fulfils his part of the bargain but as the ten years draw to a close Wullie dreads the inevitable consequences, the burning fire and other Satanic torments. However Wullie has the sense to confide in his wife whose battle of wits with the Devil not only provides much of the humour but ultimately shows Wullie his escape route from a much chastened Devil.
