Scottish Play: No. 167
A rollicking, rombustious romp, set in the Borders during the early 18th century.
There is ample scope for good characterisation and comedy playing. It concerns the running of an illicit whisky still and the thwarting of an English gauger who is on the track of the distillers. There is also a love interest which develops into a hilarious love scene and almost causes a family feud.
The play was awarded the Glen Mackemmie Trophy for the best play depicting Scots life and character and placed second at the S.C.D.A. Finals at Inverness, in April, 1955.
